“The hum of a true social hub, Prince on repeat and an ever-flowing punch bowl—nights here are really enjoyable,” says Jordan Felix of Multnomah Whiskey Library in Portland, Oregon (1124 SW Alder St.; 503-954-1381; mwlpdx.com), about Clyde Common(1014 SW. Stark St.; 503-228-3333; clydecommon.com), his favorite drinking den in town. “This bar really does have it all—comfortable stools, the best food in town, consistent drinks and a hefty back bar,” he says. When not sipping a stiff old-fashioned or Sazerac, Felix elects the French 75, mixed with Beefeater gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, sparkling wine and a lemon twist. “It’s an immediately refreshing drink, opening up my palate for eating.”
