1974 and 1978 Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Mondavi, patriarch of Napa Valley, passed away
in 2008, but his widow, Margrit, his brother Peter and his son Tim, pictured,
were all in attendance. Tim, who now operates Continuum Estate, brought a 1978
Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon to complement the 1974 Cabernet poured by
Press. “They’re two of my favorite vintages,” he said. “The 1978 was
overshadowed by the 1974, but each had late seasons; the tannins are very
nicely evolved; and they’re generous in fragrance.”
