Aman Sveti Stefan, Montenegro
A luxe Adriatic resort set along the Montenegrin coast, Aman Sveti Stefan occupies the former summer estate of Queen Marija Karađorđević of Yugoslavia. Here, on 80 seafront acres dotted with 800 olive trees and surrounded by centuries-old forests, sits a series of red tile-roofed, stone buildings erected for the queen in the 1930s—the luxe Villa Miločer, which houses three restaurants and eight of the hotel’s contemporary-styled suites, among them. The resort’s new spa, which debuted in May, and its commodious treatment rooms and 24-meter indoor pool are located in a newly built structure nearby. Across an isthmus from the mainland find a former fortified 15th-century island village with an additional 50 rooms, cottages and suites. From $900;Sveti Stefan 85315; 94-11/203-5700; amanresorts.com.
