Saratoga, WY: Chefs on the Prairie

On September 21 and 22, outdoor enthusiasts and food lovers will unite for a unique culinary experience located at the luxury guest ranch, Magee Homestead. Top Chef alumni Carrie Baird (Bar Dough, Denver) and Chris Scott (Butterfunk Kitchen, New York) will head to south-central Wyoming’s sprawling wilderness for a series of meals, interactive cooking demonstrations, and an “in the field” lunch along a horseback trail ride.

A six-course dinner prepared jointly by both chefs will cap off the weekend. The menu includes greens with goat milk gouda, sourdough toast with bacon jam, cheddar, and summer zucchini, roasted carrot risotto, and fried chicken with caramelized leeks and a porcini waffle. The meal will end on a sweet note with dark chocolate pudding and olive oil cake with roasted strawberries. In addition to the culinary offerings, guests can take advantage of the ranch’s wellness and fitness programs, fly-fishing, ranger tours, and horseback riding.

Newport Beach, CA: Shucktoberfest

In a decidedly briny riff on Oktoberfest, the Mayor’s Table—the stylish signature restaurant at the seaside hotel, Lido House—is hosting an oyster fete. Located on the former site of City Hall, The Mayor’s Table has made a name for itself as one of the area’s premier seafood spots. On September 23, guests can gather on the lawn for a feast of fresh oysters, clambakes, and bratwurst, all paired with the Lido House’s signature Piper-Heidsieck champagne. Lawn games and live music will complete the end-of-summer bash.

A portion of ticket sales benefits the Ben Carlson Foundation, an organization that honors the legacy of a local lifeguard and dedicated waterman who passed away while serving the community. 3300 Newport Blvd; 949-524- 8500
