A decade ago, Berlin wasn’t even a blip on the world's culinary radar, making its culinary transformation in the last few years all the more wondrous. What was once simply a city of currwurst, döner kebabs, and predictable German standards has exploded with Italian and French food and molecular gastronomy. Farm-to-table havens like Katz Orange and the “brutally local” ethos of Nobelhart & Schmutzig pair well with the playful Neue Deutsche Küche (New German Cuisine) leanings of Pauly Saal.
