You Can Stay in the Villa From "Under The Tuscan Sun"

Touchstone Pictures/Everett Collection

Recreate Diane Lane’s ‘dolce vita’ in Cortona, Italy.

Gather 19 friends and live out your own Hollywood-worthy Italian escape in Diane Lane's villa from the 2003 film, "Under The Tuscan Sun".

The 17th-century estate, "Villa Laura," which was known as "Villa Bramasole" in the film was recently renovated into the quintessential, luxury Tuscan retreat—much like it was in the movie.

According to the listing on Luxury Retreats (the Airbnb-owned rental site), the ten-bedroom, ten-and-a-half-bathroom property can be rented from $2,362 to $4,050 per night and will sleep twenty people comfortably.

These spacious bedrooms are divided between the villa's main house, farmhouse, and a limonaia (lemon house) annex, and each has an ensuite bathroom, air conditioning, WiFi, and are decked out with "fluffy bathrobes, slippers, and Egyptian cotton linens."

Outside, the gated estate's gardens are ablaze with roses and wisteria that inspire genteel relaxation. So do as Diane would do here and soak up the sun with a wine glass in hand from the wine cellar (stocked with Tuscany's finest). More active souls can choose from a travertine stone pool, an outdoor hot tub, a bocce court, and an outdoor pizza oven ready for cooking up local market produce.

Inside the rest of the villa’s centuries-old stone walls, you’ll find bright, traditional living spaces. The living room’s rustic beamed ceilings and tile floors are given a lift of understated elegance by soft green upholstery, a gallery wall, and a crystal chandelier.

The villa closes up for winter come mid-November but not before it ends tourist season with a special Tuscan winter cooking week where guests help harvest olives and experience a morning truffle hunting followed by a traditional feast and wine tasting.

If you did want to step out beyond villa grounds, the surrounding location is just as idyllic as the property. A day trip to the Lake Trasimento beach is 15 minutes away and the closest ski area is a 2-hour drive away.
