Queenstown offers an alpine-like setting complete with ski resorts and rugged nature. And this sleek modern home puts you right in the heart of it all. Perched on the edge of the northeast hillside of Lake Wakatipu, the home has spectacular views of The Remarkables mountains looming over the water. All around the home, made largely of glass and stone, there are evergreen trees, spiky bushes, and low-lying scruffy shrubbery. It's something like a very modern, super luxurious cabin in the woods.

Even indoors, the outdoors feel ever-present. Glass walls wrap around the upper floor, where an open-concept design combines the living, dining, and kitchen spaces. Quiet beige and white decor lets you focus on the monumental scenery outside. And you can take everything in from the cozy media room, where plush seating surrounds a massive stone fireplace. Fluffy pillows and blankets top each chair and sofa, so you can curl up and get comfortable for a while.

A staircase leads to the ground floor with three bedrooms. All have direct access to a private balcony facing the lake and the snow-capped mountain peaks. But only the master bedroom has both an ensuite bathroom, with a standalone rainfall shower, and access to the outdoor hot tub directly from the balcony.

There's a lot to explore in Queenstown, from the impressive restaurants to the ski resorts to outdoorsy adventures ranging from rock climbing to paragliding, depending on the season. And when you retire for the day, you'll have the fireplace and hot tub to look forward to.
