Costa Rica is known for its unspoiled beaches, lush jungles, and pura vida way of life. So, it makes sense that travelers would want to escape there. And now they have even more reason as Departures just learned that the luxury resort community of Peninsula Papagayo is launching two new enclaves: an ultra-exclusive collection of 13 homes by architect Antoine Predock and 25 Andaz branded luxury treehouses.
The Bahías Residences by the renowned architect are perched high on a hilltop 250 feet above the Pacific Ocean, creating the ultimate secluded vacation spot. They were designed to blend seamlessly into the landscape with 8,500 to 10,500 square feet of indoor/outdoor living. Spread over two or three levels, each modern beach house features a private infinity-edge pool, spa, “glamping rooms,” private garages, and more. And while the luxe amenities come standard, owners can choose custom furnishings and decor to personalize the space.

“The feeling of exploring this place is very cinematic,” Predock told Departures in a statement. “We wanted to create a fully immersive experience that would honor the cultural landscape—not to bring something predetermined, but to derive our design out of the place itself. Treading lightly on the land was imperative. Each residence will be unique, very much rooted in this magical place. I haven’t done anything like it before.”
As far as the Andaz Costa Rica Residences at Peninsula Papagayo, owners will get fully serviced two- and three-bedroom treehouses next to the resort. These 2,400- to 3,400-square-foot properties were designed by Costa Rican architect Ronald Zürcher and feature equally stunning views, private plunge pools, and indoor/outdoor living. There are also integrated pedestrian paths that provide direct access to the resort, making it easy for residents to walk to the nearby spa, beaches, and pools. Owners can also enjoy the benefits of the resort-like in-residence dining, daily housekeeping, valet, dry cleaning, laundry, and more.
The news of the two new residential offerings comes following a record 2020 sales year and nearly $100 million in sales in 2021.

“Costa Rica, particularly Peninsula Papagayo, has reached a tipping point in demand, underpinned by a shift in lifestyle and priorities of the affluent second-home buyer,” said Donald McGregor, head of development for Latin America at Gencom, developer, and co-owner of Peninsula Papagayo.
“Papagayo’s club and resort community align perfectly with the growing trend of second-home buyers seeking safe havens for their families in exotic destinations offering tailored eco-adventure experiences. These two new offerings are designed to meet this demand and unlock a connection to Costa Rica’s natural wonder for a new generation of families.”
Bahías Residences will start at low $6 million while the Andaz branded luxury treehouses will begin at $1 million.
