Many architecture fans dream of owning a home designed by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. While those opportunities are rare, some of his students created equally stunning properties throughout the country. And one just hit the market in New York's Hudson Valley.
Located at 205 Emans Road in Lagrangeville, the 1,792-square-foot stunner was designed by Aaron Resnick, a disciple of Lloyd Wright and one the founders of the Usonia District. It's a classic example of the style and one of the few homes of this pedigree outside of Pleasantville's Usonia community. And, as you can imagine, it's beautiful.
The home, built in 1954, sits on more than eight acres and features many original details like the birch kitchen cabinetry, Cherokee Red signature slate flooring, tiled baths, and beamed wood ceilings. Inside there's a great room with walls of glass looking out on the surrounding forest, three cozy bedrooms, and an enclosed outdoor terrace that can be used as a studio.
"I feel at one with the natural surroundings," said the current owner, Michael Moloff." My home is nestled amongst a forest of towering fifty-foot Norway spruce and ornamental trees. The great room has floor to ceiling glass windows bringing the outdoors, indoors seamlessly. I have experienced many engaging moments with nature and wildlife from the comfort of my living room."
Indoors continue to echo outdoors as stone pathways lead me to the expansive pool, wrapped by a bluestone terrace. "It's the perfect place to host and entertain in warm weather," said Moloff. "Built into the landscape at a lower elevation hidden from view of the main house, the pool creates a serene private resort for guests."
And all of this is located within 70 miles of New York City. "This home is the perfect antidote to a stress-filled, busy world, for future design and nature admirers to enjoy," said Moloff.
