What is better than Champagne and jewels? Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa thinks it’s the perfect pairing and is why they are partnering with Empress Josephine’s official jeweler Maison Chaumet to grant suite guests exclusive access to the rare exhibition at the grand salon at 12 Vendome.
In honor of the bicentennial of Napoléon Bonaparte’s death, Champagne’s luxury wellness destination is offering guests in the Joséphine or Marie-Louise suites a private viewing of the 150 rarely seen artworks, jewelry, and fashion on display now through July 18. Plus, you get an exclusive in-room welcome kit from Chaumet, and a dedicated Champagne Concierge can arrange exclusive tastings at the many nearby Champagne houses.
The idea for the Napoléon-themed offering stems from the hotel’s strong ties to the French military leader. The property has an original 19th-century post-trading station where Napoleon passed through several times. To preserve this history, a team of experts refurbished the Post House, which is now home to Michelin-starred Le Royal restaurant. Inside, you’ll see Napoleon-themed decor like a gold leaf-studded ceiling with panels that feature the most important women in his life – Josephine, Marie-Louise of Austria, Countess Marie Walewska, and his first lost Désirée Clary.
“Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa has a strong connection to Napoleon Bonaparte’s life. And we’re honored to partner with his Empress Josephine’s official jeweler, the esteemed Maison Chaumet on the bicentennial of his death,” Jennifer Delord, Director of Sales & Marketing at Royal Champagne, told Departures. “This partnership has perfect synergy as Napoleon frequented the Champagne region and our very own 19th-century post house that has been preserved and still stands on property to this day.”
She added, “We celebrate Napoleon throughout the hotel in our logo, dining venues, special suites, and design touches, and this partnership is a wonderful opportunity for us and our guests to delve deeper into his fascinating history. We can’t wait to welcome back guests and unlock such an incredible experience at Chaumet’s iconic hôtel particulier at 12 Vendôme.”
The offer comes as France reopens its borders on June 9, and EU governments announced that vaccinated Americans would be able to travel quarantine-free.
