While commercial flights to Fiji have been put on hold until March 2021 at the earliest, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, travelers still have the opportunity to visit the island nation thanks to private jet charters. To make it easier for travelers to safely visit the country, Laucala Private Island formed a partnership with Fiji Airways to charter its new A350-900XWB Airbus exclusively for up to 20 guests at a time.
Up until now, these planes have only been flying cargo. But as of November 1, 2020, guests of the luxurious private island resort can charter the empty commercial flights to create a travel bubble. Laucala is the only island in Fiji to have approval from the Ministry of Health to offer this experience.
What does the buyout include? You get access to PS (formerly Private Suite) at LAX for pre-departure and again for post-arrival services (you avoid the main terminal). Onboard, you get exclusive use of the premier business class experience with Collins Aerospace Super Diamond, fully lie-flat beds with 1-2-1 configuration complete with turndown service (you hop into bed and wake up in Fiji). In Fiji, you get private use of Fiji Airways’ Premier Lounge at Nadi Airport for all arrival and departure and have island transfers on Laucala’s own King Air Private Jets.
The package also included a buyout of Laucala Private Island, an American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts property, with a selection of 10 villas, all on-island food, beverage, and activities, plus additional on-island COVID testing. This comes after an eight-month renovation. So, you have access to the newest amenities.
“What makes this offer so unique (if a whole state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 XWB and 3,000-acre island just for you is not unique enough) is the seamless door-to-door experience this partnership makes possible, particularly in these days of Covid-challenged travel,” Luciana Nijdam, Laucala’s general manager told Departures.
The cost of the exclusive buyout? Expect to pay $682,000 for two to 20 guests.
