The Happiest Place in the World, According to Instagram

So many smile emojis at this magical destination in Japan.  

Instagram released their 2018 'Year in Review' today, taking a look back at the heavy hitters of the year on the social media channel, from the most used face filter (heart eyes) and the top dance movements (the #inmyfeelingschallenge) to the top advocacy hashtag (#metoo).

They also filtered through to find the happiest geotagged location in the world, picking it by the biggest use of the smile emoji in captions. In cheeriest first place was Tokyo Disneyland in Japan. And it does look like quite a joyful place, judging from their Instagram photos. 

Tokyo Disney Resort features a number of attractions at Tokyo Disneyland including Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, a Haunted Mansion, as well as Tokyo DisneySea, a unique resort inspired by the myths and legends of the sea. Tokyo Disneyland also just announced they'll be opening a Toy Story-inspired hotel, set to open by 2021, which generated a lot of buzz.

The resort is also well known for some inventive snacks to keep theme park visitors cheery, including Toy Story Alien Mochi, Mickey Tapioca Drink, or anything at the Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall or Rackety’s Racoon Saloon.
