Double-tap for wanderlust.
It's 2018, and around 80 million photos are shared on Instagram each day. The social media channel is clearly fueling our travel appetite. According to research by Hotels.com, one in six travelers admits picking their next destination and hotel based on social media. Which makes perfect sense when you realize #vacation has over 92 million mentions.
In turn, hotels all over the world have strived to be their most photogenic and Instagrammable selves this year (for better or worse, as The Atlantic reported).

Some like the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island are going above and beyond to cater to the Instagram crowd, with Instagram Butlers on hand (for the uninitiated those are social media savvy members of staff that will show guests exactly where the best spots on the islands are and the time of day to visit). The wanderlust-inducing hotel has also just unveiled the world's first underwater villa, The Muraka, a nearly 6,000-square-foot, three bedroom, bi-level residence that features a stunning underwater master suite which got 3.1million views on one post.
