With the island nation's hotel scene reinvigorated by new offerings and the Golden Jubilee in full swing this Friday, here's a look at the best places to lay your head in Singapore.

The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore

Located in the Millenia section of Singapore, the Ritz-Carlton seems more like an impressive museum masquerading as a hotel than anything else (the three-ton sculpture by Frank Stella hanging in the lobby should be proof enough). But with over 4,200 works of art including paintings, sculptures, murals, and artifacts artfully spread throughout the hotel, there’s a self-guided art tour podcast available in English, Chinese, and Japanese (we recommend sipping a signature Champagne cocktail in the Chihuly Lounge first). Stay in one of the 608 rooms facing Marina Bay and the city skyline, or the Kallang River and Millenia Walk. A private alcove in the Club Lounge, aptly named the Drawing Room, provides easels, paper, and pencils so guests can capture their own perspectives of the bay. Rooms from $363; 7 Raffles Ave.; 65/6337-8888; ritzcarlton.com.
