Texas hotels are living up to their state’s unofficial saying, “Everything is bigger in Texas.” The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown in Houston launched an over-the-top package recently that involved having lunch with an astronaut. Now a luxury Dallas property is standing out with their offering that lets you take over part of a department store in the bustling city.
The Adolphus just launched its Bigger Than Big Tex package to celebrate the Texas State Fair. And while you, of course, get two tickets to the fair with roundtrip transportation in a Rolls Royce, custom Lucchese his-and-her boots by the luxury bootmaker, dinner and wine pairings at the famed The French Room and luxurious suite accommodations in The Presidential Suite, there’s one detail that stands out.
During the stay, you’ll get a $5,000 private shopping experience at Neiman Marcus, during which an area of the store of your choice is completely closed. Yes, a stylist will help you put together the perfect outfits (perhaps even one for the State Fair) in total privacy.
“The Adolphus has been the iconic luxury address in downtown Dallas for 107 years, so naturally we wanted to partner with another prestigious Texas institution like our downtown neighbors at the Neiman Marcus headquarters down the street, and our world-famous State Fair of Texas,” Sam Tucker, Director of Sales and Marketing at The Adolphus, told Departures. “As the saying goes, everything is bigger in Texas, so we really wanted to take it up a notch and deliver an over the top luxury experience with nods to some of our favorite uniquely Texan partnerships.”
The cost of living the big life? The package is valued at $12,000.
