Scribner’s Catskill Lodge Opens in Upstate New York October 6

The October 6 opening of Scribner’s Catskill Lodge gives New Yorkers another barebones weekend retreat upstate. A clean Scando-style and access to beautiful hiking trails makes up for the hotel’s lack of five-star bells and whistles. Originally built in the 1960s, the reimagined Scribner’s evokes the Hudson Valley’s sense of exploration and craftsmanship through its design, activities, and food. All rooms share dark maple floors and vintage rugs, and most have large windows and private decks overlooking the mountains; a handful have fireplaces and lofted sleeping spaces. A large circular bar with cast iron stoves anchors the restaurant, where the menu melds classic Alpine dishes with local ingredients.
