Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina Debuts $18 Million Renovation

The team behind Gurney’s Montauk debuts a sister property in Rhode Island Memorial Day weekend. Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina is the result of a head-to-toe, $18-million transformation of the old Hyatt Regency. Set on ten acres on Goat Island, the resort feels like a private haven, but is just a short walk from the cobblestones of downtown Newport. The 257 rooms, including 19 suites, have been refreshed and a 22-slip marina was added. The pool scene has been reimagined with an expanded deck, day beds, and poolside restaurant, the Pineapple Club. An outpost of Italian hotspot Scarpetta is sure to be a year-round hit.
