On Thanksgiving, you get to take some time off of work, relax with family, and enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal, right? Well, not if you're the one hosting. If that's the case, your holiday is spent prepping, cooking, and cleaning. But it doesn't have to be that way. Instead, book a stay for Turkey Day at one of the many hotels around the world where they will do all the heavy lifting for you. Bonus: they'll even deliver a feast with all the fixings to your room. Here are a few properties offering in-room Thanksgiving dinner.
Gurney's Montauk in Montauk, New York
Montauk's only year-round property, Gurney's Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa is offering the "Gather at Gurney's" experience to guests who book the suites or cottages. You and your family will be served a locally-sourced holiday meal prepared by the culinary team in the comfort of your private accommodations. What's on the menu? A whole roasted turkey carved tableside with stuffing and other seasonal favorites such as cranberries, sweet potatoes, and warm pumpkin pie, all of which can be enjoyed while relaxing in a beautiful beachfront setting.
Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany, Italy
How about celebrating Turkey Day in Tuscany? Available from November 26, 2019 through December 1, 2019, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, an American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts property, will offer a Thanksgiving Break in Tuscany package for Villa guests. The three-night offer includes a collaborative cooking class, sumptuous Thanksgiving dinner, classic Tuscan wine and tour tasting, and truffle hunting experience for up to 12 people. You might have to start a new Italian-themed tradition.
Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico
Bet you never thought of turkey tacos for Thanksgiving. Well, families spending Thanksgiving in the Signature Villas or Ty Warner Mansion at Las Ventanas, an American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts property, get a private chef to prepare a delicious, traditional Thanksgiving dinner including both traditional recipes as well as festive-inspired dishes with a Mexican flare for guests to enjoy in the comfort of their rooms. The pastry chef will even whip up a family recipe for dessert if you wish. And there's also a turkey trot at the resort on the morning of Thanksgiving, as well as a Post-Turkey Day Bootcamp on the beach to reduce the guilt after indulging.
Calabash Cove Resort and Spa in St. Lucia
If too much family time stresses you out, head to the 26-suite boutique adults-only hideaway, Calabash Cove Resort, and Spa. Here they offer in-room Thanksgiving dinners for guests on the private patios of their suites at no extra charge. Enjoy pear and apple salad, bacon-wrapped Brussels sprouts, roasted turkey breast with herb butter stuffing on sweet potato pie, sautéed green beans, and a cranberry port sauce while overlooking the ocean.
The Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Disney World
For a family with young children, celebrating Thanksgiving at Disney is a dream come true—especially if you’re staying at the Four Seasons, another American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts property. Not only do you have access to a five-acre water park for the kids and a high-end spa for the parents, but you also don't have to cook. Simply order a traditional Thanksgiving plate through in-room dining, and you'll get sliced turkey, stuffing, and seasonal vegetables, complete with cranberry sauce. Oh, and you're just minutes from all the parks where they'll be celebrating the holiday too.
Harbor View Hotel in Martha's Vineyard
It doesn't get any more traditional than celebrating Thanksgiving in the very state where the Mayflower landed in 1620. Book a stay at the historic Harbor View Hotel in Martha's Vineyard where they just underwent a top-to-bottom $15 million renovation and reopened in May 2019. And since this is the first Thanksgiving after its restoration, the property is offering a themed in-room dinner experience in its Presidential Skyhouse Suite. The meal will be prepared by Executive Chef Patrice Martineau, who has served as Chef de Cuisine at Daniel Boulud's iconic New York eatery, Daniel, and will be a locally-sourced five-course feast. Crispy pork belly, dried fruit compote, herb, and citrus roasted island Turkey with classic gravy and cranberry chutney are all on the menu.
Kimpton Nine Zero in Boston
You don't even have to get out of bed to enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. Order dishes including oven-roasted turkey, house-made gravy and cranberry sauce, house-made cranberry walnut stuffing, whipped garlic potatoes, Bourbon-glazed root vegetables, Thanksgiving street corn maple butter cranberry and goat cheese, sauteed broccoli rabe and pumpkin cheesecake right from the comfort of your room via bedside iPad tablet.
The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park in New York
Besides eating Turkey, there is no bigger Thanksgiving tradition than watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Participate in both with a stay at The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park, an American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts property, where they're offering a "Specialty Suites" package. Included is a stay in the newly renovated Royal Suite, The Presidential Suite or The Artists' Gate Suite, an intimate in-suite Thanksgiving brunch for up to eight guests, a one-hour in-suite personal photographer session, one instant-film camera to capture all family photos on the go, Club Lounge access and a $250 La Prairie Spa credit. Prime views of the parade are just a bonus.
Les Ilets de la Plage in Saint Barths
Saint Barths has long been a favorite for travelers to celebrate the Thanksgiving holidays. But for a true family experience away from the trendy hot spots, Les Ilets de la Plage offers 12 private villas with room for everyone and direct access to the white sand beach. While there, the concierge team can arrange an in-villa Thanksgiving Dinner supplied by local favorite Mayas-to-Go who uses the freshest Caribbean ingredients to prepare a traditional meal.
Baur au Lac in Zurich, Switzerland
In 2014, Zurich's iconic Baur au Lac hotel (where Daniel Humm trained at the hotel's two-Michelin-starred Pavillon) prepared a Thanksgiving meal as a special treat for a group of American guests. When word got out locally about the hotel's traditional Thanksgiving meal and the Head Chef's golden turkey, the orders came in. For the fifth year now, the luxury hotel will prepare its Thanksgiving dinner, available for pick up at the hotel or as room service, complete with the Chefs own special stuffing, cranberry jelly, red cabbage, and chestnuts. The turkey and sides serve four guests, with a selection of wines available for purchase paired by Marc Almert—the hotel's sommelier and the World's Best Sommelier.
