Everyone knows If you want the ultimate wine vacation, you go to Napa Valley. But for bourbon lovers, you head to Kentucky. And one luxury Louisville hotel, Hotel Distil, is making sure those whiskey drinkers have the greatest experience ever by creating a booze-themed package in honor of Repeal Day.
Just a quick history lesson before diving into the details of the extravagant whiskey package. December 5 marks the 86th anniversary of the day Prohibition—a 13-year stretch when alcohol was illegal in the United States—was repealed. Today, some celebrate this occasion by indulging in a few drinks to remember a time when they couldn’t.
Hotel Distil, located on Whiskey Row, created the “Exactly Like Nothing Else” package, which offers a three-day bourbon-themed stay. You and a pal get to stay in the Connoisseur suite for two nights, get roundtrip limo transfers from the airport to the property, monogrammed robes, and locally-sourced charcuterie board paired with champagne. Top-notch meals are included as well, like a chef-prepared breakfast and dinner at Repeal Oak-Fired Steakhouse.
Of course, the highlight is a trip to the luxurious Ashbourne Farms, where you get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to taste (and keep) 12 bottles of bourbon, each from a different decade from 1900 to 2010. Some may have only one or two remaining bottles in the world. A master distiller will you lead you through the tasting, and lunch will be served picnic-style and feature locally grown farm products. A local Bluegrass duet will provide the entertainment, and the opportunity to experience a world-renowned sporting clay course is also included.
The cost of the unique package? It’s available for $75,000.
And if you'd like something a little more lowkey, the hotel is still celebrating by hosting a nightly complimentary whiskey toast at 7:33 pm, which is 19:33 Universal time, aka the year Prohibition was repealed.
