Los Cabos, Mexico, is known as a classic beach destination filled with stunning beaches and luxury oceanfront hotels. But one property is looking to stand out from the crowd by offering a first for the region: the first speakeasy.
Las Ventanas al Paraiso, a Rosewood Resort and American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts property, just opened La Botica, a late-night bar that is accessible through a hidden door that appears to be a vintage Coca-Cola refrigerator near the lobby. Once inside, guests and visitors are transported back in time to a space resembling a 1920s herbal medicine pharmacy. After all, La Botica translates to “drugstore,” and the team created everything from the design to the cocktails to support the theme.
The bar features an elaborate display of spices, flowers, and herbs that match the unique cocktail menu, which renowned mixologist Philippe Zaigu created. You’ll find apothecary-themed drinks with ingredients, including produce, herbs, and botanicals. Meanwhile, Cuban singer and performer Rosalía de Cuba will entertain the crowd with her mix of Afro Cuban and jazz music while visitors can enjoy light bites by Executive Chef Diego Stefan.
“The opening of La Botica marks an exciting development for the destination of Los Cabos, as guests and visitors will for the first time have an exclusive space at a hotel for a nightcap with inventive cocktails and live music,” Frederic Vidal, Managing Director of Las Ventanas al Paraiso said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to continue our series of innovative developments with La Botica, as it further elevates our standing collection of exciting offerings.”
La Botica will be open for hotel guests and visitors from Tuesday through Sunday from 7 p.m.–2 a.m., with live music from 8 p.m.–12 a.m.
Aside from opening the first speakeasy, the luxury hotel was also the first Los Cabos property to open a lazy river. They’ve also become known for their Pool Butlers and Director of Romance, who take care of your pool and romantic needs, respectively. Not to mention, the incredible 28,000-square-foot Ty Warner Mansion was unveiled in July 2016.
What first can we expect next?
