Like any bustling metropolis, Mexico City has a range of accommodation options for visitors ranging from budget to high end. But if you’re looking for the most luxurious of the bunch, there are a few that stand out. These properties go above and beyond not only in design but also with service taking care of the youngest visitors to busy business travelers.
Here’s where you should stay on your next trip to CDMX.
JW Marriott Mexico City
If you want a prime location near some of the city’s best attractions, the JW Marriott is where to stay. It’s situated just across from Bosque de Chapultepec (aka Mexico City’s Central Park) in the ritzy neighborhood of Polanco. From there you can walk to several museums, including Museo Nacional de Antropología and Museo de Arte Moderno. After a day of exploring, you’ll return to a spacious lobby and room, many of which have park views. There are two onsite restaurants—Xanat Bistro & Terraza serving up Mexican cuisine and casual French spot Brasserie Lipp—as well as a private lounge with food, snacks, and drinks for those with executive-level rooms. And you can’t miss the stunning pool that has sweeping views of the city.
Las Alcobas, A Luxury Collection Hotel
Design aficionados will love the modern-style Las Alcobas, an American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts property, and stunning boutique hotel. The lobby features an eye-catching wooden spiral staircase while the 35 guestrooms and suites boast a sleek, contemporary look with minimalist furnishings. While there are fewer rooms than the other luxury properties, the hotel still has a gym, spa, and two onsite restaurants. A dedicated concierge is also on hand to help guests book tours, dinner reservations and make suggestions of local attractions to check out in its neighborhood of Polanco. One important thing to note: children under seven are not allowed. So, this is more of a spot for couples and business travelers.
St. Regis Mexico City
It’s hard to miss the 5-star 31-story hotel in Mexico City’s bustling financial district. The all-glass facade of the St. Regis Mexico City, an American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts property, gleams behind the iconic Diana the Huntress fountain that sits out front. Inside is just as spectacular with soaring ceilings and colorful furnishings. Rooms start at a spacious 538-square-feet, feature floor-to-ceiling windows, and come with butlers available to take care of any request. And there are several onsite restaurants, including exclusive La Table Krug, which offers a private 11-course meal paired with the famous Champagne, and Diana Restaurant that hosts the most epic Sunday brunch ever complete with a mariachi band. Families will love staying here as children are treated like VIPS here with a separate check-in desk, fully-stocked playroom, and in-room glamping setup.
Four Seasons Mexico City
You can’t go wrong with a Four Seasons property in any destination. But, the recent renovation of the Four Seasons Mexico City, an American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts property, has raised the bar on luxury in the area. The spacious rooms feature rich colors, and some have terraces that lead directly to the hotel’s private interior courtyard. This oasis, complete with a secluded firepit, creates the ideal oasis from the bustling boulevard of Paseo de la Reforma outside. Plus, there are three restaurants onsite ranging from Italian fare to modern Mexican cuisine. And don’t leave without out grabbing a drink at Fifty Mils, one of the 50 Best Bars of the world.
W Hotel
For a younger, trendier vibe, book a room at the swanky W Hotel. It’s located in the stylish Polanco neighborhood and features bold designs like lobby chairs with giant faces and guestroom beds with neon lighting. For those here on business, set up a meeting at one of the nine working studios or hook up to the free WiFi at the Living Room Bar. Make sure to book a dinner reservation at the forward-thinking 25DOS, which serves up dishes made from local, organic, and fresh ingredients and even has an interactive salad experience. Before you leave, make time for a visit to the Away spa where they have a Temazcal, a traditional adobe sweat lodge.
Sofitel Mexico City Reforma
This 275-room property is the first luxury hotel to open in the city in the past decade. And, as you would expect from the Paris-based company, the new spot seamlessly blends French vibes with Mexican flavors. For example, the chefs use local ingredients but French cooking techniques to make dishes like ant-egg croquettes. The rooms are spacious, and the junior suites have soaking tubs that overlook The Angel of Independence below. Even if you don’t have a room with a view, you can still take in the sweeping vistas from the 38th-floor bar Cityzen, that’s now one of the hottest nightlife spots. Or, take a dip in the indoor pool on the same level. Although a newcomer, this hotel is certainly making its mark.
