Miami's Faena District Gets an Update

The hotel part of the Miami development opens to the public in late December.

"We have created a sort of Utopia,” says Alan Faena, the Argentine developer behind the Faena Hotel Miami Beach, opening to the public December 21. For Faena, that meant recruiting film director Baz Luhrmann and his wife, interior designer Catherine Martin, to design and decorate the 169 rooms and suites, including 13 residences. The Mid-Beach Collins Avenue resort also has 10,000 square feet of oceanfront, complete with private beach club for hotel guests, and Los Fuegos, an Argentine barbecue restaurant.

Part of the Faena District, a project DEPARTURES covered in our October 2014 Miami Issue, the four-block development will eventually include condominium towers such as Faena Versailles Classic, with additional residences, a shopping bazaar, and members-only arts club, Faena Rose. Rooms from $745; 3201 Collins Ave.; 844-733-4190; faena.com.
