The Stair Hall
The Stair Hall that leads to the guest rooms on the second floor is a study in contrasts. Practically a room of its own, the lower portion is understated in its elegance as its main purpose was to display the numerous portraits of the Coote family who rebuilt the house into its current form starting at the beginning of the 19th century. At the top of the cantilevered stairs, the decoration is more ornate with baseless columns arrayed in pairs and a richly detailed ceiling.
