Galapagos-based luxury cruise operator Ecoventura has a new yacht in its fleet and it’s focused on treating our planet as good as possible. The new boat, named Theory, is the most sustainable megayacht the company has to offer travelers.
A Relais & Châteaux member, Theory has all of the luxury amenities you come to expect with the title: king beds, rain shower heads, incredible restaurants, and panoramic views that make the most of the World Heritage site scenery. There’s even a master yoga instructor According to The Robb Report, a trip on the yacht will also get you in with small-group guided tours (there is one naturalist on board for every 10 guests).
The sustainability focus comes from the ship’s design. The bow features a significant curve that helps the boat cut through waves, reducing drag. Ultimately, this helps Theory decrease fossil-fuel intake by 30 percent. There are also special wastewater systems utilized on the boat to make the most of the resources onboard.
Ecoventure owner Santiago Dunn said it best in an interview with The Robb Report: “Why sacrifice luxury when you can integrate it with environmentally friendly aspects? Ecological shouldn’t be synonymous with basic.”
