Métier’s Closer is the day-to-night briefcase of your dreams.

Shortly after society jeweler Fulco di Verdura opened his New York salon in 1939, Doris Duke purchased this 18th-century painted-ivory Chessman brooch with rubies and pearls set in gold. The brooch (part of a now-sought-after series), along with seven other Verdura jewels owned by the tobacco heiress, will be on display at Verdura in New York February 9 to 20. Duke's entire Verdura collection goes up for auction in June. For information, call 212-758-3388.
