In Bruges, just off Breidelstraat, is Staminee de Garre, the place to sample locally brewed beers. Nearly hidden in an alley, the pub occupies a 16th-century red-brick house with 16 wooden tables and original wooden beams. Owners Carl and Carla Ascoop have 131 kinds of beer, from dark Golden Dragon to a sweetish brew made by monks at the Abbaye de Notre Dame de Saint Rémy. The Ascoops also serve very basic but satisfying cheese with farmer's bread. Beer, $2-$13. At 1 Garre; 32-50-34-10-29.
