Spa Report: Los Cabos

The star treatment

After a $90 million renovation, One&Only Palmilla, in Los Cabos, Mexico, has been made over for the celebrities who call it their weekend home (John Travolta rented the entire place for his 50th birthday). But the most significant addition to the 172-room hotel is a superpower of a spa. In this starstruck playground where, on a recent visit, Leonardo DiCaprio and Gisele Bündchen puttered around the pool on a tricycle, it manages to provide that most valuable amenity: privacy. The 13 treatment villas are in a secluded enclave with a yoga garden and a gym. The menu includes a Coconut Rub & Milk Ritual, Aztec Aromatherapy, and a skin-soothing treatment using cactus-bristle brushes. But we went for something even more exotic: Fennel Cleansing Cellulite and Colon Therapy, which was not the fenneloscopy we feared, but a mask for the thighs and a stomach massage. Afterward, we chose the Pathway to Perfection (the Pathway to Peace was also available, but whatever). It combined a private yoga class, massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure. It lasted an exhausting four hours, after which we could barely manage lunch of fish tacos and a soak in our room's enormous marble tub. Rates, $475-$1,450; treatments, $47-$300; 866-829-2977;
