The lively shop-filled neighborhood of Palermo Soho is not for early risers. Most of its boutiques and restaurants don't open until around noon. But that's what makes breakfast at Bar 6 all the more pleasant—it's a chance to take in the leafy streets and old buildings before the crowds start to descend. The restaurant, a converted carpenter shop done up with rough wood tables and velvet sofas, starts serving at 8 a.m.: Italian coffee, mate cocido (a less potent version of the famous drink), fresh fruit, and pan de campo smothered in a creamy dulce de leche that's almost too indulgent to start the day with.
