After years of blending her own scents as a hobby, Julie Elliott founded In Fiore (Italian for "in bloom"), her San Francisco atelier responsible for artisanal balms and body oils. Her newest passion (and now ours) is a line of exquisite solid perfumes in brushed bronze compacts. The three fragrances—called Jehan, Amirah, and Najma—are combinations of tuberose, jasmine, sandalwood, rose, and antique patchouli from Grasse, France. Made by hand using only natural oils and essences, the scents have a potency and longevity not ordinarily found in a bottle. Besides the soft notes of wood and musk, the sophisticated cases have also earned the perfumes extra raves. "A lot of men have been wearing the scents also," Elliott says. "I think they like them because the cases fit in their pockets and aren't too feminine." $70. At 2109 Ellis Street; 415-928-5661; www.infiore.net.
