There's plenty of precedent-setting car news from across the pond. Four limited-edition Bentley models and one Rolls-Royce, representing a capped total worldwide production of about 250 cars, will have been introduced within a two-year span. The newest, the $329,000 Bentley Continental R Le Mans Series, arrives in late October—50 cars only, to be sold exclusively in the United States.
Although a handful of these cars are built and then shipped to dealers, most aren't completed until an order is in hand. These precommissioned models, with a numbered plaque to memorialize each one, offer several options for you to choose from. Information: 877-300-8803.
Meanwhile, Jaguar is rolling out its "Baby Jag" X-TYPE with V-6-powered, all-wheel drive, and the unmistakable look of the cat. "People are going to love the way it drives. The interior has the traditional luxury of leather, wood, and chrome," says Mike O'Driscoll, president of Jaguar Cars North America. Two versions are offered: 194 hp, five-speed manual transmission ($29,950) and 231 hp, five-speed automatic ($35,950). Information: 800-452-4827; www.x-type.com.
