The Perfect Pour

A deep dive into the world of Macallan Scotch whisky.

When searching for the hottest restaurant and lounge in Beijing, tell your cabdriver to take you to the glass-and-metal LG Twin Towers behemoth in the Chaoyang district. He may look surprised, but upon arrival just follow the nattily dressed Western expats up an elevator to the fourth floor. Inside you’ll find a Philippe Starck–designed masterpiece: Lucite-and-neon tables abut velvet-and-mahogany chairs, while spinning oil paintings on the ceiling complete the dizzying effect. Dinner is exemplary contemporary Chinese, and the people-watching is out of this world.
