Room 61 at the Hôtel San Régis is a cozy, masculine-looking nest right under the roof of this boutique gem off Avenue Montaigne. The wall covering is deep red, the carpet midnight blue. The room has two small terraces, and from them a view of the Eiffel Tower. Room 61 is the hotel's most popular room. Our second choice would be one of the other suites on the sixth floor: They're equally spacious and have equally fine views. (Double rooms, however, can be very small.) The hotel is a great place to stay on business, reports a habitué. "That living-roomlike lobby is my outer office," he says. $352-$897. 12 Rue Jean-Goujon; 33-1-44-95-16-16; fax 33-1-45-61-05-48.
