Having observed the decline of Peru's ancient tradition of silversmithing over the years, designer Ilaria Biondi de Ciabatti decided to reverse the trend: She set up Ilaria, her shop in Lima, hiring regional artisans whose families have passed down techniques for generations. Every piece produced in the Ilaria workshop is made by hand; we especially like the silver cuff, "Constelación," set with lemon quartz and sodalite ($165). Besides modern and pre-Columbian-style jewelry, Ilaria sells sterling vases and tea services. At 308 Avda. Dos de Mayo, San Isidro; 51-1/441-7703; www.ilariainternational.com.
