A Classic Revisited

Just outside Edinburgh

Taking over a restaurant that once had a Michelin star is no mean feat. But since buying La Potinière, the cozy dining room in the village of Gullane, two years ago, Keith Marley and Mary Runciman have done that and more: The duo has put their own stamp on the place, introducing such dishes as Thai coconut soup with west coast scallops and roast Scotch lamb loin with crunchy ratatouille. "La Potinière is every bit as good as it ever was," one Scottish critic wrote. "Perhaps even better." Dinner, $130. On Main St.; 44-1620/843-214; www.la-potiniere.co.uk.
