It's been nine months since the tsunami, and the reasons to return to Thailand continue to multiply, starting with Trisara, on the island of Phuket. Largely out of harm's way, the collection of 24 villas opened two weeks before the catastrophe and is now running full steam ahead. Each sprawling, palm-shaded structure is done in crisp beige and white and has its own terrace and infinity pool. A private beach is a short boat ride away; in the main building is a spa offering treatments like an inner-organ massage. We skipped the latter and stuck with the excellent traditional dishes at the seaside restaurant. From $695 to $1,700; 66-76/310-100; www.trisara.com.
