When British Vogue needed a cake for its 90th anniversary party it turned to London-based cake designer Rachel Mount. A self-taught baker, Mount opened her studio 15 years ago, and it took almost that long to perfect her Blahnik- and Choo-inspired designs. "The sugar and the cake are so soft," Mount says, "it was a challenge to make a crisp heel." She’s also been known to create handbag- and Eiffel Tower–shaped confections; she can turn nearly anything pertaining to fashion or travel into a stylish dessert. And in flavors ranging from chocolate to lemon zest to coffee brandy, every morsel is edible—and just as irresistible as an actual Manolo slingback. Alas, Mount has no immediate plans for a U.S. outpost. Custom cakes, from $550; 44-20/8672-9333; rachelmount.com.
