Luke Bailes, chairman of Singita Game Reserves, has much to be excited about these days. The company has put the final touches on Faru Faru, its third luxury lodge in Tanzania, this one on the Grumeti River. And after extensive renovations of a property it acquired in 2006, Singita has opened Pamushana, a lodge on Zimbabwe’s Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve. (As if the imprimatur of Singita weren’t enough, the latter is now a Relais & Châteaux member, too.) And in a move to ensure the survival of a species, the outfit has purchased 50 of the remaining East African black rhinos and is working to relocate them to the Serengeti. 27-21/683-3424; singita.com
