Jennifer Latham, a beloved baker and cookbook author, shares her favorite stops...

Having already circled the globe on a motorcycle, Jim Rogers, author of Adventure Capitalist (Random House; $27.50), decided to see the world again—this time with his wife, Paige, in a custom-made, jacked-up Mercedes with its own trailer. "I learned a lot about a country by driving across its border," says Rogers, a financier whose three-year journey took him through blizzards in Iceland, earthquakes in India, and war in Angola. The book is also peppered with travel tips, such as great drives (from northeast Turkey to the Georgian border), bad roads (northern Kenya), and magnificent hotels ("Paige would love to live in room 37 at the Serena Inn in Zanzibar").
