Book of Note

Taking the waters

Considering that Romans invented spas, it's fitting that Umberto Angeloni, chairman of the Roman fashion house Brioni, should write Seducing the Senses, a 150-page, lavishly illustrated book on the subject. Angeloni dives into the history of baths and into the deeper waters of aquatic mysticism and the morality of nudity. Less scholarly spa fans will probably flip right to the last chapter, where guest journalists write about their favorite spas: Pangkor Laut, Miraval, and the George V in Paris all make the cut. $75;
