A Taste of St. Barts
Offering both a sense of exploration and preservation, the island’s cuisine blends its native flavors with those that arrive on its shores.
The musician on liquid eyeliner, her favorite yarn store, and the ultimate Parisian escape.
I make sure I have plenty of MAC Liquidlast eyeliner and a box of Benadryl with me wherever I go. Liquidlast eyeliner is so intense you can literally wear it while swimming. It also provides the blackest and smoothest line you can get. As long as I’m wearing good eyeliner, it doesn’t matter what clothes I’m wearing or what mood I’m in — I always feel put together. I always have Benadryl because it’s good for both allergies and insomnia. It really gives you the bang for your buck! And you can’t find it everywhere in the world, so I make sure I always have my own.
If I could take any store in the world with me, it would be the yarn store Purl Soho. I make sure I go there every time I’m in New York City. They have such beautiful yarn, and they will ball it up for you. I love that!
In Paris, there’s a Westin right across from Tuileries [Garden]. People always seem surprised to hear that I love that particular hotel so much, but let me tell you! My band, The Gossip, has been staying there for years. We are actually such regulars that I have a suite they give me every time I stay, which is on the corner on the top floor and allows me to see the Eiffel Tower from my bed. I never get tired of that view. I like to be reminded that I’m far away from home. I’m a shameless tourist, so seeing the sights from my balcony is still a surreal dream for me, even after all this time. I love all the staff there, and we all know each other by name.
