These eight drinking dens just opened in the U.S. Here’s why they're our new favorite spots for a night out.
Columbia Room, Washington, D.C.
While the former Columbia Room was a much-loved, very-tiny space hidden inside The Passenger (also closed), the new incarnation of D.C.’s premier cocktail den finally arrived in February in an address of its own. The space and diversity of its cocktail offerings have been upgraded too, with three individually conceived rooms: The Spirits Library offers à la carte drinks and vintage spirits for sale; the alfresco Punch Garden debuts this month with punches and bottled cocktails; and the 14-seat, reservation-only Tasting Room, based on the original Columbia Room, serves three- or five-course cocktail tasting menus with accompanying snacks. 124 Blagden Alley NW; 202-316-9396; columbiaroomdc.com.
