I spent a couple of surreal weeks alone in Bangkok around the time I turned 30. I spent most of my time wandering the malls — Erawan Shrine, Central World, Erawan Mall — which are outrageous and amazing, and laying by the pools at mediocre hotels. I love a chaotic city and the only escape from NYC I could think of at the time was making myself anonymous in another insane city.
Queens-born Batsheva Hay started her eponymous label four years ago after leaving her job as a lawyer and deciding to experiment with designing dresses for herself and her daughter. Batsheva lives on the Upper West Side with her husband, photographer Alexei Hay, who she collaborates with on brand imagery, and their two small children, Ruth and Solomon.
