At this year's tournament, Platinum Card and Centurion Members will have the ultimate place to relax between matches.

For the first time this year, American Express Platinum Card and Centurion Members attending the 2018 US Open in New York will have an extra-special place to relax and recharge between matches: the Centurion Suite.

The Suite—which is located in an airy, sunlit space on the second floor of the new Louis Armstrong Stadium—is inspired by American Express’ signature Centurion Lounges and broader Global Lounge Collection, but features special experiences designed to maximize Card Members’ time at the Open, including a gift upon entry and a 360-degree photo booth. The space is also outfitted with air conditioning, its own dedicated WiFi network, restrooms with L’Occitane products, flat screen TVs, phone charging stations, and a private balcony overlooking the grounds.

For refreshments, guests can pull up a seat at the Suite’s horseshoe bar. Premium snacks and small bites are complementary—opt for the strawberry gazpacho created especially for the Open by Cédric Vongerichten, executive chef of the Centurion Lounge at New York’s LaGuardia Airport—as is water and one alcoholic drink for those of age. (An additional selection of crafted cocktails, beer, and wine is available for purchase; wine pairings are curated by the Centurion Lounge Wine Director Anthony Giglio.)

“The reason we created Centurion Lounges [in airports] in the first place, back in 2013, is because we knew our customers travel a lot—both in the U.S. and overseas—and that when they’re traveling, they want a place to be able to rest and recover," Josh McKay, VP and GM of Global Benefits and Services at American Express, told DEPARTURES at the Suite earlier this week. "And that has inspired us to keep thinking—you know, how can we [create] this type of experience in other ways? It’s really about being where are Card Members are, and helping them escape and chill out while they're there.”

The Centurion Suite will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. from August 27-September 5 and 12 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. from September 6-9. American Express Platinum Card Members are able to bring up to two guests while Centurion Members can bring two guests or their immediate family. If Card Members can’t join us on-site at the US Open they can tune in to tennis when they travel through LaGuardia Airport in our Viewing Lounge located at the Terminal B Food Court and open to all travelers.
