While you may not think of a wicker table as something you’d put in your living room, interior designers beg to differ.
“I love rattan furniture as accent pieces for indoors,” says Kati Curtis. “Commonly thought of as ‘outdoor’ furniture we're using rattan sparingly indoors as it's light, fresh, modern, and organic. I think the desire for a more comfortable, less formal lifestyle is what's driving this trend.”
It’s also a pretty versatile furniture option as it works well in both contemporary and traditional environments. If you live in the city and would like to bring the outdoors in, rattan and wicker furniture is the way to go.
“Rattan enhances the coastal feel, without being ‘beachy.’ It’s a beautiful way to keep rooms looking comfortable, but not frumpy,” adds Curtis. In your living room, for example, you can opt for a rattan sofa in a dark finish for a casual, yet sophisticated vibe.
Here we selected 10 handmade rattan furniture and décor pieces that will bring a summer vibe to your home.
