Holy Smokes

Traeger wood-fired Wi-Fi grills make a fine art of outdoor dining.

NITA X FOLKWAYS Sipper Glasses are a revelation, the seemingly simple design item that changes your life by elevating both everyday and festive occasions — not least of all because they are artistic treasures with reputable origins.

Their co-creators — Natalie Marie Gehrels of Folkways, a wine, spirit, and object store located in Westchester County, New York, focusing on naturally driven vintages and small production makers; and Nicolo Taliani of Nita, a Milan-based jewelry, lighting, and home collection — are long-term creative collaborators who share a commitment to conscientious craft and what Gehrels describes as “a unique artsy bond.” To the point: The colorful, abstract faces that give their glasses their charismatic personality were conceived as a celebration of the world’s diversity.

The Perfect Packing Cubes and Must-Have Moisturizers

All the things our editors are loving in March, from sustainable scents to organic...

“At Folkways, we really endeavor to contemplate the best accompaniments on the table with your wine or spirits — we are always digging deeper, and searching for historical, artisanal, and contemporary objects and design pieces to introduce into the store,” Gehrels elaborates. “As Nicolo developed the Unity Collection for his jewelry line, I, in parallel, got really inspired by historic ceramic vessels from Mexico that hold mezcal and typically have faces depicted on them. I asked him if he would be open to developing a glass together. I felt that there was space to reinterpret this historical spirit glass in new and colorful ways.”

The resulting one-of-a-kind vessels are handcrafted in Murano, Italy, by heritage artisans using the renowned lampworking method of glassmaking, and currently available in seven colorways. But, Gehrels reveals, new hues and characters are on the way — all ideal for sipping the Veneto region’s famous Franciacorta bubbles, grappa, or whatever your pleasure. Gehrels’ current choices are mezcal and amaro: Los Nahuales Mezcal Joven, Liquore delle Sirene Bitter, and Heirloom Liqueurs Pineapple Amaro, to be exact. We’d also suggest these premium sipping tequilas.

As for which glass to pick? Opt for the full set — your guests will be charmed.
