Jack White's Analog Superstore

Jamie Goodsell

The eminent rockstar and his nephew take their passion for analog ephemera to Detroit.

The new Third Man Records boutique, in Detroit, is a home away from home for Jack White’s vinyl-centric Nashville record label. The store specializes in custom analog ephemera, from limited-edition instant film to turntables and amplifiers in Third Man’s signature yellow and black. “We’re equally a Detroit and Nashville label,” says Third Man’s top dog, Ben Blackwell, who grew up in the Motor City, along with White (his uncle). “Detroit is where we all spiritually come from.” The boutique will also feature White’s vintage collection of coin-operated novelties, including a booth for recording directly to vinyl. 441 West Canfield; 313-209-5205; thirdmanrecords.com.
