Your guests have five senses – be sure to hit all of them:
Greet guests with a spicy grapefruit margarita. Either make your own with freshly squeezed white grapefruit, a reduction of Serrano chilies, limes and touch of agave. Or, if that's too daunting, use Arrowhead Farms' Spitfire Margarita mix and just add tequila. Garnish with a basil leaf and slice of jalapeno pepper, coat the rim of the glass with lime-flavored salt and you've got a delicious drink guaranteed to knock your guests' socks off!

Next to the drinks, nothing's more important than great tunes. My spring party playlist includes Hold On by Alabama Shakes, Polish Girl by Neon Indian, Human by The Killers, Default by Django Django, Waste by Foster The People, Feel This Moment by Pitbull and Christina Aguilera and Let The Groove Get In by Justin Timberlake.
Hit your local farmer's market for fresh flowers. There's no flower easier to use than the hydrangea – the big boughs are almost an arrangement in themselves. My personal favorite is Royal Red.
Roja candles have a cult following in London, and are finally available on this side of the pond. I like the Rose de Mai scent, for spring.
Delight your guests by using carefully chosen books as place cards. For a summer read, keep it light with a society biography or novel like Edie, Dorian Gray, The Leopard, The Great Gatsby, or Rules of Civility.
