Bacon Maple Ale: Rogue Ales and Spirits and Voodoo Doughnut

Sometimes a brilliant idea is as simple as a phone call. When Rogue Ales and Spirits president Brett Joyce called the owners of Portland, Oregon–based Voodoo Doughnut (voodoodoughnut.com) to tell them he loved their work, he had no idea he would end up with a doughnut-inspired brew. “We got together, had a few beers and doughnuts and the partnership just evolved naturally from there,” he said. The first collaboration beer, Bacon Maple Ale, stems from Voodoo’s signature maple-syrup-and-bacon doughnut and was released in September 2011. The newest addition is Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Ale, in honor of the Memphis Mafia doughnut made with bananas and cinnamon and covered in a chocolate glaze. rogue.com.
