Good, lightweight luggage is an extremely underrated travel accessory. It’s easy to get sidetracked by well-made dopp kits or skincare regimens that can fit seamlessly into three-ounce, travel-sized packages. And those accessories are important for a seasoned traveler, too. But ultimately, good luggage that is built to last, looks great even after the wear and tear of a 10-hour flight, and fits everything you need without weighing you down is essential.

Depending on how often you travel, you want at least one go-to duffel, carry-on suitcase, and checked bag. (And if you have unlimited space in your home and travel every week, having a backup for these three luggage categories couldn’t hurt.) Each option should be lightweight, made of high-quality material, and present well—especially if you’re often traveling for business. If you typically use two of your lightweight luggage options simultaneously—like a carry-on hardshell suitcase and a leather weekender duffel, you’ll also want to consider colors and materials that complement each other.

These lightweight luggage options are the best in class—they are not only made with great material, but are worth the investment for the long-term traveler.
