The most famous furniture fair happens every April in Italy, but for ten days in the fall, the design world shifts its focus to Vienna, where a series of exhibitions, talks and products (like this lamp sculpture by the Atelier Art Design of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Slovakia) turns the city into a showroom. At its heart is Passionwege, a program that pairs young designers with craftsmen or family-owned companies to reimagine their creations. Last year’s partnership between Viennese marmalade-maker Staud’s and designer Mathias Hahn yielded poetically colorful (and functional!) glassware.
